Inmediately I reseted its networking settings and installed it in my home network without problems I also configured my router to always give it IP address 19216819 based on its MAC address Months ago the key Item on the control panel stopped working not a big deal at that time but just yesterday it stopped printing at all The printer will start as normal The control panel shows READY as usual but when sending anything to the printer via network the printer will not do anthing I tried pinging its IP address without success I changed the ethernet cable with same results I connected it via LPT port and when sending something to the printer I can see the control panel shows the normal PROCESSING JOB for an instant but right away goes back to the READY screen Any advice on is wierd you cant print to it and the buttons do nothing Try partsnowcom they might have the control panel available that is the first thing I would try Does it beep when turned on or does it just power up like its ready to print Also remove any extra memory and the jetdirect and try again

<dc:subject>Laser center Remove the roller and the piece behind it is the clutch It slides right off You can do the test above or just leave the clutch off and put the roller back on even though it moves back and forth Do a couple of test sheets and if it works then the clutch is the issue and do what I say above If it still jams then you have other issues

<dc:subject>Laser Forum</dc:subject>

<item the leading edge of the toner cartridge youll see a small plastic fin sticking out That fin opens up the shutter in the laser unit If the fin is broken off youll get the 51 error I had one once where the fin was there but adding a short extension to it got rid of the 51 error The door that came off protects the drum It also goes up when you close the door and blocks the optical sensor Thats how the printer knows the cartridge is installed There are 2 other things that can cause the error The way I determine which one it is is to listen to the scanner spin up If it spins up smoothly then it is a laser PCA at fault If it spins up noisily or erratically or doesnt spin up at all then its a bad scanner motor

<dc:subject>Laser print balck

You CAN allow some to print in color while ensuring others can only print in blacknwhite Heres how: 1 On the Print server create two instances of the same printer using the same drivers but name them differently eg Colorlaser versus Regularlaser 2 Set the Print permission Security tab of the printers properties dialog box on the Regularlaser to include usersgroups who should only print in blacknwhite 3 Set the Print permission Security tab of the printers properties dialog box on the Colorlaser to include ONLY the usersgroups who are allowed to print in color 4 Configure the Regularlaser to print in greyscale while leaving the Colorlaser as is 5 Direct users to the printer they should use the one to which they have been granted access as you the admin have specified

<dc:subject>Laser HL1440

Im using WinXP ProSP3 I have used the HL1440 for a couple of years with no problems Recently reinstalled Windows so had to reinstall the printer When I ran the install from the box CD the only signed drivers in the list are for Win2K There arent any at all for XP signed or not So I used the signed driver that setup chose by default and ended with the error message: An error occurred during the installation of this device Access is denied Step 2: I downloaded the latest package of drivers for the HL1440 from Brother This included a setupext Ran that without a hitch Check in the Control Panel and its listed as installed software Heres problem: When I go to Start Settings Printers no printers are showing So I click on Add a printer and this takes me back to the original hardware wizard which takes me back to the box disk with the old drivers Ive tried directing the setup wizard to the new downloaded drivers but generates more error messages such as Cannot copy BRPPROC DLL etc Can anyone suggest what I might try to get this printer back online and working Im stumped Thanks very much

<dc:subject>Laser Forum</dc:subject>

<item be happy just knowing at what temperature the fuser in a Brother HL2140 fuses at but Id be glad to get as much info on other makes and models in that regard as well Thanks in advance just sent you my diagram of how I soldered on the components Note that anode is ground per the original schematic this means that South_Raven was wrong on that This page is a very short discussion about diodes and how they work: http:wwwkpsecfreeukcomcomponentsdiodehtm and it agrees with the original schematic that the point is the cathode Other sites debunk the longstanding theory that current flows from positive to negative So Ill make another setup by this weekend and see how that works Thanks

<dc:subject>Laser repair

I see what you are saying about the paper level indicator I took out the pickup roller and inspected the whole setup again and the only thing I notice is that the little white wheel on the left does not spin by hand spinning as easily as the one on the left It DOES spin freely but just not as freely as the one on the right This might have something to do with the dogearing as this left side is where most of the dogears occur However I also found out that it works better if I only use less than 50 pages but at least 20 pages in the lower tray When I put in 100 pages or more then it tries to draw in more than one page and it jams with the top page dogeared So if I only put about 40 pages in the lower tray then it will pickup sometimes after trying a 2nd time and also I can remove the tray without any snagging I am hoping that a new separator pad will solve this problem and I will be able to put a full 200 pages in the lower tray and print off a 200 page document without any malfunctions I went ahead and ordered a new tray 2 as that will have a new separator pad already installed Ill see how it works when I get this early next week For now I have to keep the number of pages in the lower tray less than 50 and just watch it closely since it misses the pickup every 5 or 10 pages But the printed pages look VERY GOOD That makes it worth all this fuss One other question I have is about the output tray on the back I always have it open so that the paper comes out there and not on the top hopper but I wonder if I can extend it even further so that it lays down flat instead of in a 45 degree angle The little plastic stops appear flimsy and I am afraid of breaking them but if there is a way to release the output tray to lay flat down on the table I would prefer that The manual doesnt show it so does anyone here know about that

<dc:subject>Laser Forum</dc:subject>

</rdf:RDF>
